A Love Language Quiz That Looks at How You Give and Receive Love
The free Connection DNA quiz takes about five minutes and shows you two things: how you most readily feel loved, and how you naturally show love to someone else. Those two are not always the same.

Most love language quizzes are designed to point you toward a primary type. Connection DNA looks at a broader picture: what helps you feel valued and understood, and how you naturally show care to the people close to you.
Your profile can include more than one meaningful dimension. It also separates two things that are easy to assume are the same: how you receive connection and how you give it. That gives you a clearer picture of what matters to you, in language you can actually use.
Five dimensions of connection
Connection DNA looks at five ways people give and receive care.
- WordsAppreciation, reassurance and encouragement said out loud.
- TimeShared attention, activities and time together that feels intentional.
- ActionsSupport and reliability shown by doing.
- TouchPhysical closeness and presence, when welcome.
- ThoughtfulnessFeeling known through remembered details and personal gestures.
Giving love and feeling loved are not always the same thing
Here is something that catches people by surprise. The way you naturally show care is not always the way you most readily feel it.
You might show care by doing things, while what lands most strongly for you is time and full attention. Your partner can be genuinely trying, and you can still feel like something is missing because the care being given is not the care you most readily recognize.
Two people can genuinely love each other and still both feel like something is missing. Not because the love is absent, but because giving and receiving do not always line up. Connection DNA looks at both sides so that difference becomes easier to see and talk about.
How Connection DNA differs from the Five Love Languages®
If you have taken a love language quiz before, some of the territory may feel familiar. Connection DNA approaches it differently.
Connection DNA is an independent framework. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by The Five Love Languages®. It was built around a different question: why can two people genuinely love each other and still both feel like something is missing?
- It looks at receiving and giving separately, because they can differ.
- It allows more than one dimension to be meaningful in a profile.
- When both partners complete the assessment, it looks at how the care one person naturally gives lines up with what the other most readily receives.
- It translates those patterns into practical relationship understanding.
The aim is not to replace another framework. It is to give you a clearer picture of both sides of connection: what you naturally give and what you naturally receive.
What changes when your partner takes it too
Your own profile is worth having on its own. It helps you put words to things you have felt but maybe never named.
It gets more interesting when your partner completes theirs too. With both profiles, Connection DNA can show you where your patterns naturally fit together, where care may be getting missed, and where the two of you might simply be showing love in ways the other does not always catch. The things that once felt like distance often turn out to be translation.
Here is the flow. You complete your own assessment first and see your results. From there, if you are in a relationship, you can invite your partner to complete theirs. When both are done, Connection DNA can look at what happens where your two profiles meet.
How it works
Frequently asked questions
What is a love language quiz?
It is a short set of questions that helps you understand how you experience and express care in a relationship. Connection DNA takes a fuller view: it looks across several dimensions at once, and at how you give care as well as how you receive it.
Is Connection DNA based on The Five Love Languages®?
No. Connection DNA is an independent framework. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by The Five Love Languages®. It shares the everyday idea that people feel cared for in different ways, then takes its own approach by looking at giving and receiving separately.
Can I have more than one strong dimension?
Yes. Connection DNA allows more than one dimension to be meaningful in your profile. Your results reflect the dimensions that score strongly for you rather than forcing one fixed category.
Does Connection DNA look at how I give love as well as receive it?
Yes. This is one of the main differences in Connection DNA. It looks separately at how you naturally give care and how you most readily receive it, because those two things can be different.
Can my partner take the quiz too?
Yes. Once you have completed your own assessment, if you are in a relationship you can invite your partner to complete theirs. When both profiles are ready, Connection DNA can look at how they meet.
How long does the assessment take?
About five minutes. It is short by design, so you can finish it in one sitting.
Is the Connection DNA assessment free?
Yes. Your individual Connection DNA assessment and your profile are free, and once you have completed yours, your partner can complete their own. You can see some couple-level insight together at no cost. The full Couple Report, which looks in depth at how your two profiles fit, is the paid part.
Stop guessing what makes connection feel different.
